Galaxy nails 2.0

Hi everyone,

Today I want to share with you these galaxy nails I created. When thinking of possible nail arts I could create, I remembered this technique I used a long time ago. I searched back for it on my blog and found it; over a year ago, I wrote this post about my galaxy nails. Today I decided to use the same method and the results can be seen below! I also included a comparison of the previous galaxy nail art I made and this one, to show the difference. The two left pictures are from the design I made a year ago, the two right pictures are from this week. Looking back at it like this, I think it is fun to see the progress I made with painting my nails!

NOTD: You’re so flippy floppy

Hi everyone,

Today I thought I’d show you this lovely liquid sand polish ‘You’re so flippy floppy’ by OPI. It is a vibrant yellow, with the recognizable texture and subtle shimmer. It totally brings out the summer feeling and I immediately feel happy when I look at it!

30 days nail art challenge day 19

Hi everyone,

Today I’m super excited to show you the galaxy nails I created for day 19 of the 30 days nail art challenge! I’ve always liked the galaxy nails, but they seemed so difficult to make, so I never came to creating them. When I saw today’s nail art is about galaxy nails I immediately started searching on YouTube for tutorials and inspiration. After seeing some great designs I started creating my own. As a base color I used nr. 59 Black is back from Essence. With a make-up sponge, I applied the colors nr. 580 Blues Brother Vol. II and nr. 620 Captain Sparrow’s Boat from Catrice on top of it. To add some glitter, I used the CO4 Shake It! Flake It! (LE Million Styles) from Catrice. After waiting for some time to allow everything to dry completely, I continued using my make-up sponge and the brand less white polish. With this, I created diagonal, horizontal and vertical ‘lines’ across my nails. On top of the white I applied yellow and pink, again with the make-up sponge. The nail polishes I used for this are nr. 95 Wanna be your sunshine by Essence and nr. 030 Meet Me At Coral Island by Catrice. Then I again applied the glitter top coat, followed by a layer of golden glitter top coat. To finish everything off, I applied a final regular top coat. I hope you like the design, and I’ll see you guys soon!

TAG: Nail Polish Addict

Hi everyone,

Today I don’t have a nail art for you guys, but a Tag that has been going around for quite some time now. It is the nail polish addict tag, and below are the questions and my answers! (All the pictures included come from weheartit)

1. What’s your favourite nail polish company?
Hmm, although I do not own any of their polishes, I’ll go for OPI. I love their different colors and new inventions. For example the new top coat with real gold ‘Man With The Golden Gun’. My only problem with the OPI nail polishes is the price. It is right now just too tempting to buy more budget polishes instead of one OPI color, but my plan is to change that soon!

2. Glitter or no glitter?

This one is easy; no glitter. I like to make nail arts and then it isn’t convenient to use glitter. Also, glitter is a pain to get off your nails, which I find very annoying.

3. OPI, China Glaze, or Essie?

Again, I’ll go for OPI. I like their polishes more than the ones from China Glaze or Essie, just because of the amazing colors, funny names and successful xollaborations with famous artists.

4. When do you change your nail polish?

I change my nail polish when I have time for it, and as soon as it starts looking really horrible. I don’t like to have chipped nail polish on my nails, so I remove my nail polish quite often.

5. What’s your favorite color on your nails?

Wow, that’s a question I can’t answer! I like almost every color in my nails, and especially in a nail art. Although I do own a lot of blues and greens, I almost never wear them alone on my nails. This goes for actually every color that I own; I mostly wear a nail art instead of one plain color.

6. Darks or brights?

These are almost even, but I’ll go for the brights. I just use them more often, but I also really like the darks.

7. What are you wearing on your nails right this moment?

At this moment I’m wearing my Paris nails, as seen in this post.

8. Matte nails – in or out?

Definitely in. Although I don’t really care about the trends, and just choose what I like most. But matte is a definite yes for me, I just love it so much. It can give a completely different look to a nail polish, but I only like it when it is applied over just one color. So not over nail arts, which I usually make.

9. French manicure?

No, not my favorite. It can be nice if you just want neat nails without color, but personally I don’t think it is really special. What I do like is the French manicure with a twist; using different colors or combinations with matte and shiny.

10. Favorite Summer Colors?

I don’t really have a favorite color, I just like original nail arts!

I hope you liked reading this Tag, take it if you want to and share the fun! I’ll see you guys soon!

30 days nail art challenge day 9

Hi everyone,

Today I will continue with the 30 days nail art challenge. I’ve thought a lot about which nail art I wanted to make for day nine, were the challenge is to make a rainbow nail art. I first wanted to make nyancat-nails, but because I’ve made them before I decided to go for something new! I used the nail polish nr. 59 Black is back from Essence as a base. After letting that dry completely, I used the colors nr. 360 Raspberry Fields Forever, nr. 240 Sold Out For Ever, and nr.  400 Blue Cara Ciao from Catrice. I also used nr. 95 Wanna be your sunshine from Essence and a mixture of my brand less white and nr. 08 from Hema. I took my dottingtool and dipped into these different colors to make the hearts. It didn’t take me really long to make, but it took ages to dry completely! I like the happy and bright end result and I hope you like it to! Below is the other picture from this day’s nail art, and I will see you soon!

30 days nail art challenge day 3

Hi everyone,

Today I made the nail art challenge day 3, which is the yellow nail art. I instantly knew I wanted to make a bumble bee nail art, and after searching for some inspirational pics and thinking about my design I created my nail art. As a base color I used nr. 95 Wanna be your sunshine by Essence. The black color is Nero by Gosh. This nail art is quite happy and bright, and might look a bit childish. However, I like it for the variation. You can add more details if you like to, but this isn’t necessary. I hope you like my nail art, and for more pictures you can look below. See you soon!

Swatches Catrice new collection

Hi everyone,

Today I want to show you my swatches of three colors of the new fall/winter collection of Catrice. I bought three of the eleven new colours; nr. 865 Yellow Sub-Mandarin, nr. 880 No Snow Petrol, and nr. 900 Steel My Heart.

865 Yellow Sub-Mandarin is a yellow/light orange color like the name says. It has good coverage and a little shimmer. On the picture I applied three coats, because two coats wasn’t good enough and gave a terrible coverage. I really like this polish, although the formula could be a bit better. It is a refreshing color which is suitable for both Autumn and Spring/Summer.

900 Steel my Heart is a black/brown semi-mat color with a lot of sparkles. Catrice says that it has a completely new effect; the metal brushed effect. It is a really pretty polish, and it is excellent for the Autumn and Winter. The application is smooth and as seen on the picture, two coats give a lot of coverage. The only negative thing about this polish is that it takes a long time before it is completely dry.

880 No Snow Petrol is a blue greenish color. It has a subtle shimmer which I really like. The color looks different on the picture than in real life, when it’s more of a green hint. As much as I like the color, so do I hate the formula. It doesn’t apply even, although it does apply easily. An example of the bumps it creates can be seen on my index finger. Disappointing!

The Catrice nail polishes can be bought at the Kruidvat in Holland, and cost €2.69.
